Jack White Responds to Recent Lady Gaga Drama
Jack White has recently been accused of saying harsh things about Lady Gaga. In response, White has written this statement praising the singer, on the Third Man Records Website:
I'd like to address the recent tabloidesque drama baiting by the press in regards to Lady Gaga. I never said anything about her music, or questioned the authenticity of her songs in any way. I was in a conversation about the drawbacks of image for the sake of image, and that it is popular nowadays to not question an image in front of you, but only to label it as "cool" or "weird" quickly and dispose of it. I don't like my comments about lady gaga's presentation being changed into some sort of negative critique of her music. If you're going to try to cause drama, at least get the quotes right. I think journalists should also be held accountable for what they say. Especially publications like the NME who put whatever words they feel like between two quotation marks and play it off as a quote. Maybe somebody with more lawyers can take them to task, but i'll just use the Internet and Twitter instead. I also think that kind of tabloid drama encourages artists to not express their opinions in the press, and instead give polite soundbites that don't stimulate thought about creativity and the consumption of art in its many guises.
Peace to Lady Gaga and I fully congratulate and compliment her on her championing of gay rights issues and the momentum it's given to help create change.

Arcade Fire Plays Small, Secret Show
Arcade Fire debuted a host of new songs in Montreal over the weekend. Playing under the name Les Identiks at the city's Breakglass Studios, they were joined by extra percussionist for the "fun, dancey and groovy" new tracks, while the show was opened with a eight minute long track that apparently had a "punk vibe". The groups' new record is not expected to be released until the second half of next year, and wisely Arcade Fire insisted on a "no phone, video or photo" policy for the 100 strong audience

Dave Grohl To Speak At SXSW
Despite the Foo Fighters taking an official hiatus last month, this hasn’t stopped the band from carrying out their own activities, with front-man Dave Grohl confirming earlier this week plans to pen this year’s keynote speech at SXSW.
The music festival, now in it’s 27th year (having began in 1987), is renowned for its celebration of the arts, often responsible for breaking a host of new musicians and artists who go on to make it big.
One of the largest music events state-side, SXSW continues to host a wide variety of genres and artists, with Kanye West, Ed Sheeran and Alabama Shakes just some of the names who were involved during 2012.
A play on Hitchcock’s North by Northwest, recent years have seen the festival’s popularity continue to soar, with 2013 set to run from March 8th through to the 17th. Grohl, currently at work on a documentary about the legendary Sound City Studios, is set to take the stage on the 14th, delivering a speech which for many is seen as an iconic part of the festival, allowing some of the industries biggest stars to make their own mark on the event.

Andrew McMahon Leaves Warner Bros and Recording New Music
Andrew McMahon has revealed in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he is no longer signed with Warner Bros Records and that he is currently recording new music in California and Brooklyn.
McMahon goes onto mention that he will play, on future tours, songs from his previous bands such as Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin. An excerpt from the feature can be found by clicking read more.
"I'd rather just play all those songs and call it my career, not this band vs. that band. I always felt weird playing Something Corporate's songs and then Jack's Mannequin songs at the same show. Like, that's not what this is -- it's not a Something Corporate show, you know? Now going out under my own name, most of the guys that are in my band right now will still be in my band. So the band's not breaking up, either, we're just not using the name anymore."

Sleigh Bells Plan Cleaner, More Melodic Album For 2013
This year has been a busy one for Sleigh Bells. Back in February, the duo of Alexis Krauss and Derek E. Miller released their sophomore album, ‘Reign of Terror,’ and they’ve been touring extensively to promote it. The band has also unveiled plans for a brand-new record, tentatively scheduled for a 2013 r
elease.
The ambitious pair refuse to let their recent success intimidate them — instead, they thrive on it. “Success never paralyzes us … It pushes us forward constantly,” Krauss said in a recent interview. She went on to say that they are “half-way through the new record.” As Miller put it, “We’ll have three full-length albums in three years.”
While they may be quick to produce new music, they also recognize the importance of not rushing through the recording process. “We have to have that final, polished package before taking the road,” Krauss said.
Sleigh Bells’ third album doesn’t have a name yet, but they hinted that their new music embraces a more melodic, R&B-style sound. “I use my voice in more of a, dare I say, traditional way,” Krauss said. Miller, meanwhile, described the forthcoming record as “a lot more clean… it might sound surprising.”

Trent Reznor Partnering With Beats By Dre
Trent Reznor is working on some sort of partnership with Beats by Dre, the audio products and equipment brand produced by hip-hip icon Dr. Dre and and producer Jimmy Iovine under their Beats Electronic company. The Nine Inch Nails and How to Destroy Angels mastermind announced that he’s teamed up with Beats via a Facebook postthat revealed very little about what they actually have in the works.
“I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year,” Reznor wrote in the post. “I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. As much as I’d like to tell you about the things we’ve dreamed up … I just can’t. I can tell you it’s probably not what you’re expecting!”
We don’t actually know what we are expecting, to be honest — a new line of How to Destroy Angels speakers for limousines? Some high-fidelity, Nails-branded headphones? — but whatever it brings, the partnership is unexpected, considering Iovine is the CEO of Reznor’s former label, Interscope Records. It was only a few years ago that Iovine commissioned several hip-hop remixes of a NIN song, only to see Reznor leave the label in a fuss and go off on Iovine. “You know what, Jimmy? F— you,” Reznor said. “Take that beat and shove it up Timbaland’s ass.”
Coldpaly Selling Mylo Xyloto Graffiti
Coldplay have donated the wall from their studio on which the band graffitied the original artwork for their ‘Mylo Xyloto’ album to Proud Galleries in London. It will be put on sale next month, and proceeds will benefit Kids Company, a charity that provides support for vulnerable children.
“We built a special wall in our studio and sprayed it, wrote on it and threw things at it until it eventually became the artwork for ‘Mylo Xyloto,’” Chris Martin tells news.com.au of the piece, which is 23′ long by 8′ high. “This exhibition will be the first time that the wall has appeared in public.”
Other artwork on display at Proud Galleries and up for sale will include three original paintings on canvas by the band and their ‘Mylo Xyloto’ artwork collaborator, artist Paris, plus a second wall painted by Paris and children from Kids Company. “While we were making the last album we did quite a lot of painting with our friend Paris,” adds Martin.
Coldplay have been raising money for the charity for more than four years. “Kids Company is a phenomenal organisation that is very close to our hearts,” Martin concludes.
Greenhornes to Work With Eric Burdon
Eric Burdon made a name for himself fronting the Animals in the ’60s and War in the ’70s, and now he’s back in the ’10s, sitting in with indie garage trio the Greenhornes. The Greenhornes, featuring frontman Craig Fox and Jack White‘s Raconteurs rhythm section of bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler, teamed up with Burdon to record the aptly titled EP ‘Eric Burdon and the Greenhornes,’ due to drop Nov. 23 on Record Store Day Black Friday. Check out their new tune ‘Black Dog’ by clicking below.
“I’m finding black dogs in the neighborhood that are kind to me, and I’m finding that I have no fear,” Burdon tells Rolling Stone of life after penning ‘Black Dog,’ which takes its name from former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s phrase “black dog of depression,” which he used to refer to periods of despair. “I’m putting my hands through fences and stroking these dogs. It’s amazing how music can make things happen like that.”

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong’s rehab stay is “no joke;” may lead to further tour cancellations
According to Warner Bros. Records Chairman Rob Cavallo, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's current rehab stay could lead to further Green Day show cancellations.
"His rehab is no joke," Cavallo told Rolling Stone. "All I can say is I don't know if we'll see him before or after Christmas. It's basically undetermined when he'll be back."
"Before Christmas," on Green Day's tour schedule includes 7 U.S. dates.
Billie Joe entered rehab for substance abuse last month.
