Alter The Press: My Chemical Romance Announces New Drummer
Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance has revealed in a new interview that Jarrod Alexander will be drumming on the band's forthcoming new album. Check out an excerpt from the feature below.
"First thing’s first: Who’s playing drums? Will it be Jarrod for Bamboozle, and will he play on the next album?
Haha, oh my. First thing off the bat, huh? Jarrod is a rad guy and a fantastic player. It’s been really fun making music with him these past few months. He loves coffee and hitting drums super-hard… and the fact that he’s not a thieving piece of garbage is a breath of fresh air. But since we only had a week’s notice to prepare for this show and with scheduling conflicts and all we decided that instead of using a real-live human drummer we are going to use the super computer from War Games instead. However, we have nicknamed the computer Jarrod."
My Chemical Romance are currently in the studio recording their new album with Doug McKean in Los Angeles.

Rolling Stone:Tom Gabel of Against Me! Comes Out as Transgender
Against Me! singer Tom Gabel reveals plans to begin living as a woman in the new issue of Rolling Stone. Gabel, who has dealt privately with gender dysphoria for years, will soon begin the process of transition, by taking hormones and undergoing electrolysis treatments.
Gabel will eventually take the name Laura Jane Grace, and will remain married to her wife Heather. "For me, the most terrifying thing about this was how she would accept the news," says Gabel. "But she's been super-amazing and understanding."
Gabel only told a handful of family and friends about her plan to transition before talking to Rolling Stone. Because this is the first time a major rock star has come out as transgender, the singer made a point of speaking openly about it. "I'm going to have embarrassing moments," says Gabel, "and that won't be fun. But that's part of what talking to you is about – is hoping people will understand, and hoping they'll be fairly kind."
Rolling Stone: Zooey Deschanel to Play Loretta Lynn in 'Coal Miner's Daughter'
Loretta Lynn has chosen Zooey Deschanel for the lead role in a Broadway adaptation of Coal Miner's Daughter, reports Playbill. Lynn announced Deschanel's casting at a May 10th live show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, bringing the New Girl star out on stage to perform with her.
"It’s a long way from Butcher Holler to Broadway in New York City. I never imagined I’d see Coal Miner’s Daughter on a movie screen, and now I can’t believe it’s going to be on a stage for people to see," said Lynn. "I’m going to be right there in the front row. And I know Zooey is going to be great – she sings and writes her own songs just like I do, and we even have the same color eyes!"
"Loretta Lynn and her music have been inspirations for me for as long as I can remember," said Deschanel. "She is a true legend, and to be chosen to play such an iconic woman is a dream come true."
