Trent Reznor Partnering With Beats By Dre

Trent Reznor is working on some sort of partnership with Beats by Dre, the audio products and equipment brand produced by hip-hip icon Dr. Dre and and producer Jimmy Iovine under their Beats Electronic company. The Nine Inch Nails and How to Destroy Angels mastermind announced that he’s teamed up with Beats via a Facebook postthat revealed very little about what they actually have in the works.
“I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year,” Reznor wrote in the post. “I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. As much as I’d like to tell you about the things we’ve dreamed up … I just can’t. I can tell you it’s probably not what you’re expecting!”
We don’t actually know what we are expecting, to be honest — a new line of How to Destroy Angels speakers for limousines? Some high-fidelity, Nails-branded headphones? — but whatever it brings, the partnership is unexpected, considering Iovine is the CEO of Reznor’s former label, Interscope Records. It was only a few years ago that Iovine commissioned several hip-hop remixes of a NIN song, only to see Reznor leave the label in a fuss and go off on Iovine. “You know what, Jimmy? F— you,” Reznor said. “Take that beat and shove it up Timbaland’s ass.”

Coldpaly Selling Mylo Xyloto Graffiti

Coldplay have donated the wall from their studio on which the band graffitied the original artwork for their ‘Mylo Xyloto’ album to Proud Galleries in London. It will be put on sale next month, and proceeds will benefit Kids Company, a charity that provides support for vulnerable children.
“We built a special wall in our studio and sprayed it, wrote on it and threw things at it until it eventually became the artwork for ‘Mylo Xyloto,’” Chris Martin tells news.com.au of the piece, which is 23′ long by 8′ high. “This exhibition will be the first time that the wall has appeared in public.”
Other artwork on display at Proud Galleries and up for sale will include three original paintings on canvas by the band and their ‘Mylo Xyloto’ artwork collaborator, artist Paris, plus a second wall painted by Paris and children from Kids Company. “While we were making the last album we did quite a lot of painting with our friend Paris,” adds Martin.
Coldplay have been raising money for the charity for more than four years. “Kids Company is a phenomenal organisation that is very close to our hearts,” Martin concludes.

Greenhornes to Work With Eric Burdon

Eric Burdon made a name for himself fronting the Animals in the ’60s and War in the ’70s, and now he’s back in the ’10s, sitting in with indie garage trio the Greenhornes. The Greenhornes, featuring frontman Craig Fox and Jack White‘s Raconteurs rhythm section of bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler, teamed up with Burdon to record the aptly titled EP ‘Eric Burdon and the Greenhornes,’ due to drop Nov. 23 on Record Store Day Black Friday. Check out their new tune ‘Black Dog’ by clicking below.
“I’m finding black dogs in the neighborhood that are kind to me, and I’m finding that I have no fear,” Burdon tells Rolling Stone of life after penning ‘Black Dog,’ which takes its name from former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s phrase “black dog of depression,” which he used to refer to periods of despair. “I’m putting my hands through fences and stroking these dogs. It’s amazing how music can make things happen like that.”
